Photography by Debra Fedchin, Artist of the Month

Update: Extended through November 2021!

Gallery on Main's Artist of the Month series continues in October with haunting photographs by award-winning, New Jersey-based artist Debra Fedchin. The exhibition features an eclectic and quirky, diverse collection of abandonments, the somewhat unusual, and bucolic countryside scenes. Debra’s work will be on view, and available for purchase, from October 1 through 31.

Meet the artist at a free opening reception on Saturday, October 2, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Says Debra, "As a self-taught photographer from central New Jersey, from the time I picked up my first Kodak Instamatic camera, I have enjoyed the view from behind a lens. Photography turned more into a passion when I acquired my Minolta SRT 101 at the age of 18. Life got in the way throughout the years, but my camera has always been my escape valve.”

Debra’s photographic work runs the gamut of photojournalism through fine art photography. Her work has been displayed as a resident gallery artist, within publishing, and in regional juried exhibitions. Some of her fine art photography work has appeared in Travel & Leisure and Pennsylvania Magazine, and as a contributing artist for Arcangel images her work has graced book covers and been utilized for media in both the U.S. and Europe. Her photojournalist work has appeared in several newspapers.

She continues, “Through my photography I strive to capture an image that will suggest a pleasant remembrance long forgotten, invoke a mood, or have you wonder about what the possible story behind it is. I like to offer you a glimpse of simple beauty that is often overlooked.”
